During October and November, we invite staff to banish the Winter blues, brighten up their working day, and support people throughout Ireland who are affected by meningitis. The Meningitis Trust supports survivors who are struggling to cope with devastating after-effects, and families facing life without a loved one. While children are most at risk - meningitis kills more under-5 year olds than any other infectious disease - adults get it too. It could affect you, or someone in your family, community or workplace. If that happens, we will be there to support you too. We offer a range of services nationwide, including free counselling and advice, a 24-hour nurse-led Helpline 1800 523 196 and home visits by qualified nurses. Early diagnosis of meningitis can affect the outcome for patients, so education and awareness are also priorities for us. The reality however, is that once again this year, the Trust has received NO statutory government funding for our work. This means that we rely almost entirely on the public, and the support of companies like yours, to ensure that those who come to us for support, or call the Helpline for advice, get the help they need.
