Our funding

Meningitis strikes in an instant, but the impact lasts a lifetime. We intend to be here in the long term for those affected.
However, we currently receive NO statutory Government funding for our work, and so are dependent on the generosity of individuals and organisations from whom we get almost all of our funding. Most of this is raised through voluntary donations and a range of fundraising activities, together with support from corporates and charitable trusts.

Individuals raise funds in so many different ways, taking part in a fundraising activity organised by the Trust, or organising their own activity. The personal commitment and effort that people put in, no matter how big or small the event is, never ceases to amaze us. But without our supporters we would not be able to continue our work. For some of those raising funds, it is also their own way of fighting back against a personal experience of meningitis, like The Feeny Family.

Many companies have supported us over the years and we are most grateful for their contributions,  including Gifts in Kind, Staff Charity donations special events and those who selected us as their Charity of the Year (our 2008 COTY partners are Halfords, National Irish Bank and Topaz).

Previously,
Shoezone supported our Toddle Waddle event for 2 years and helped to raise funds and awareness through their stores. And a special word of thanks to all in Childcare.ie who have been so good to us over the years.

As well as local and national commerical companies, local Community organisations play a vital part in generating the funds we need. Schools, universities and mother and toddler groups are just some of those that help us.

Trust and grant givers provide funds for a varied range of projects.

It is getting increasingly difficult to raise the funds we need and we are grateful to all the people and organisations that continue to support us. These funds enable us to undertake our support, awareness & education and research work, making a difference to people’s lives.

Ethical Policy
The Meningitis Trust makes every effort not to knowingly accept or solicit funds from organisations involved in arms trading or production/sole distribution of tobacco.

Commerical Independance Policy
The charity remains independent from organisations and individuals who support us. We reserve the right to express our views even where these may be in conflict and/or to comment where we do not believe that the interests of our beneficiaries are being appropriately served.
